Loli is a fashion of extremes, our look works so well because we make bold choices and stand by them confidently. Our skirts are big, our collars ruffled, our shoes a unique display of pastel hearts. And don't get me started on the wigs! As a community we've seen an impressive array of wigs in all shapes, sizes and colours. Let's face it, we are a group of angelic dare devils! So why not go to the extreme with our natural hair too?
I've always found myself drawn to the polar opposites of hair length. I adore the commitment it takes for women to grow their hair ultra long or cut it super short. Both styles are adorable and fit the frills well, which adds just one more dimension to our complete dolly look.
Luxurious Length
Long hair creates a dramatic and rich look, conveying the feel of a beautiful and elegant doll. However, long hair requires a lot of upkeep and if you skimp on it the style can easily look ratty. If you decide to grow your hair out it's important to trim it regularly, that way it will always look healthy well maintained. There's nothing worse than lovely locks of hair looking thin and uneven at the ends.
Make sure to brush and condition your hair regularly to keep it in good shape. Try not to use heated tools on it too often as they can leave it looking fuzzy or frazzled.
You can play with a variety of styles with your long hair, a favorite of mine being braiding, to change up your look frequently. If you want to do something really cool try forming a crown with wire and wrapping your hair around it completely!
Super Cute Short Hair
Short hair also creates a huge and gorgeous impact. Although it's easy to think of the style as boy-ish, it can also be extremely feminine. The fact that there is less hair draws more attention to the details of your outfit, accenting your hair accessories, earrings and collar. Additional emphasis is placed on your face, which you can soften with natural make up or pop with bold colours.
Through the use of clip in extensions you can change your look drastically by adding ponytails or braids without having to spend the time maintaining your mane. The good thing about short hair is that it creates a intense look without hours of styling.
The shorter your hair the more contrast and interest you bring to your look. Short hair is perfect for a delicate princess, or a kind hearted loli prince!
What do you think about the extreme looks of both long and short hair? Personally I think they are both amazing styles that look wonderful with our enchanting fashion. I'm working on growing my hair out super long, hopefully I'll be able to handle it!

I love extreme hair styles. I have curly hair to my thighs myself. It hasn't be cut for my than a slight trim in 13 years.
ReplyDeleteIt does that commitment. But the end result is worth it.
I love both those hair styles so much! I'd love to hack off all my hair for a super cute short cut, but I've grown way too fond of my long hair to part with it. xD [It goes down to my belly button about.]
ReplyDeleteI think I might have to invest in a nice wig or two because short bobs, especially cutely curled ones are to die for! <3
I love both styles, but I have always loved having long hair because I have always thought it made me more pretty lol although every once in a while i have the urge to cut it short. When I do after a while I crave my long hair again!! lol
ReplyDeleteI really miss my long hair. I've had a shoulder-and-shorter length bob for the last two years, and I'm finally letting it grow out again. I really enjoyed having it short, but it doesn't work well with lolita for me, so I've often opted for wigs when I go all out.
ReplyDeleteI miss being able to do elaborate styles with my hair, but it's currently in an awkward stage where I can't do much with it. I look forward to having it down to my hips again (in a few years, maybe!).
I tend to go for longer hairstyles, I've never had 'short' hair myself (shortest I ever went was a little past chinlength) but I just adore the fairy tale look of long hair. My hair is currently a few inches above waist length and I'm trying (really hard by now) to get it a little past my waist ^_^.
ReplyDeleteShort hair requires more effort than long hair imo though, short hair needs a lot more styling and product than long hair. You basically just wear it up and forget about it for a while, and you'll have reasonably long hair! (Long is a matter of perspective though, to me long is hiplength or longer but to some people past shoulders is long xD)
