A Jellyfish Inspired Dream
I'm not really an anime person, to be honest it's been a really long time since I sat down and watched a series. However, at the urging of several of my non-anime-people friends I sat down one day and watched Princess Jellyfish. It was so touching, I really loved it! Truly it was a wonderful series (and, thank goodness, was aimed at my age group).
I came away from the series with a light heart and a new, fragile dream; to one day live in a sisterhood. Ok, let me explain. In the series the main character lives in a community home with a group of other girls. They are a family to each other, they understand each others strengths and weaknesses, and most importantly they care for one another deeply (kind of like a sorority).
After watching the series I've been having the longing to live with a group of women when I graduate in our own little haven. Hopefully we'd be a little more productive than the characters in the series, who were unemployed, but it would be wonderful to come home from work to a group of happy, quirky friends. Such a dream will probably never come true, as ideal circumstances such as that are usually only found in fiction, but it would be very sweet none the less.
Could you imagine if all the girls in the sisterhood were lolis? How lovely that would be, like our very own kingdom of beauty hidden away inside an inconspicuous building! I think that living in a community of women would be a rewarding experience, much more consistent and comforting than the roller coaster of living with a lover.
Does anyone else feel the same way as me? Part of me feels like it's a pretty rational desire, but the other part feels like it's silly and embarrassing to express!

I've tired living with a group of people in the past. My main advice to you and have your own space no one else is allowed into. You need that own space that is completely in your control that you can escape to.
ReplyDeleteI have always wanted to do something like that, find a really great group of girls to live with in a cute, old, fixer upper house.
ReplyDeleteLol, my friends and I have always joked about having a lolita commune in some beautiful Victorian house XD So I totally feel you! It's be cool in theory, but could you imagine the potential for drama? @.@;;
ReplyDeletePutting lolitas into a house together sounds like a pretty good reality show idea.
ReplyDeleteKittyDragon: Oh yes, after living with a group of 8 girls for 2 semesters I know how important that is! In my theoretical home we would all have our own rooms and share a communal living room and kitchen!
ReplyDeleteSuite: That sounds so lovely!
Miss Lumpy: Oh yes, the potential for drama would be mind blowing. I suppose you'd have to be REALLY selective about who could live there to avoid major personality conflicts.
Rouise: We could call it Frills Gone Wild.
I'm actually doing a super super mini version of this with my ex-best-friend-turned-best-friend-again (I think you've met her, her name is Colleen of Murfreesboro?) starting this summer. The reason I know that this would work with us is because we have such similar personalities and have the same ideals for our living space. The more girls you add, the more likely you are to face drama and even jealousy (imagine the girl down the hall owning your dream print, or the girl upstairs throws her lolita all over the floor and treats it like crap). In addition, you'd have to do all of the usuals, like everyone needing to be neat and respectful toward each other, and it would likely help if there weren't any party animals in the group.
ReplyDeleteI think that this would be a fun concept for around three girls, more would probably be too many for my nerves to handle >_<. That said, if you ever move to Tennessee and want to start a nunnery, count me in!
I think that three or four would work out fine, but getting into five or six might be a little tricky!
ReplyDeleteMy mum lives in Tennessee, so although I don't plan on moving there anytime soon maybe we could meet up when I next visit her!
